The figures shown are rounded off and based on the latest weekly report issued by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a U.S. Government agency. (Click here to see the original report - scroll down about half way to see the figures on E-MINI S&P 500 Stock Index) Click the back button on your browser to return to this site. The report is issued every Friday, the figures reflecting the position of traders as of the preceding Tuesday, 3 days before the report is issued. This is one of the largest futures contracts traded in the United States and will provide a look at the positions of large and small speculators as well as positions held by commercial funds. We are reporting the figures in this web site as a general idea of the sentiment of large and small speculators and of industry professionals.
The following description of the Traders is widely accepted as generally accurate, although the Government reports use different terminology: "Non Commercial" Positions reported by the government are those not in the securities industry and usually hold 25 contracts or more - in this web site they are referred to as "Large Speculators". "Commercial" Positions" reported by the government refer to those in the securities industry, mutual and other funds, usually hedging another position already held. (There are referred to as "Industry") "Nonreportable Positions" reported by the government are referred to as "small speculators", not large enough to warrant reporting requirements, holding less than 25 contracts.
